Trash
The "Trash" feature provided by AITable allows members to view and restore deleted file nodes for which they have "Manager" permissions. This mechanism is designed to enhance the protection of data and offers a recovery option for accidentally deleted file nodes.
Restoring file nodes
If you had the "Manager" permission for a deleted file nodes, you can retrieve and restore it, which will then be placed at the top of the Team Area.
Retention periods of deleted file nodes in the trash for different plans vary:
Plan | Duration |
---|---|
Free | 14 days |
Starter | 1 month |
Plus | 5 months |
Pro | 6 months |
Business | 24 months |
Impact on permissions
When restoring a deleted file nodes, members who previously had file nodes permissions can still access it.
If the permissions of a file nodes are originally inherited from its parent folder, once the file nodes is deleted, its permission setting will automatically switch from inherited to specified permissions. This means all members who had access to the file nodes before deletion will be granted the permissions. When this file nodes is restored, these members will continue to have access permissions to it.
If the permissions of a file nodes are specifically assigned to certain members, then when the file nodes is deleted, the permissions settings for these members will be preserved. Upon restoring the file nodes, the permissions for these members will also be restored, ensuring their continued access to the file nodes.
Impact on attachment storage and file node count
Once a file nodes is deleted, the number of the file nodes and attachment storage occupied by the file nodes will be released immediately. What if I reach the capacity limit?
For example, the current space's usage is:
- The number of file nodes: 10
- Occupied attachment storage: 50 M
If a file nodes with a 10 M attachment is deleted, the space's usage will be updated to:
- The number of file nodes: 9
- Occupied attachment storage: 40 M
If you take a restoring action for this file nodes, the usage of the space will be renewed to:
- The number of file nodes: 10
- Occupied attachment storage: 50 M
Q & A
Some file nodes were not deleted by me, why can I see them in the trash?
You can see the deleted file nodes that you had the "Manager" permission for, regardless of whether you deleted them or not.
Why can't we delete the file nodes completely?
In order to avoid the situation that file nodes are deleted by accident thus affecting business running, it is necessary to have a chance to restore the file nodes.
Why don't file nodes I delete from the private area appear in the trash?
Currently, file nodes deleted from the private area are permanently removed and do not move to the trash. Therefore, we advise you to proceed with caution before deleting any file nodes from private area.
Will the retention period for file nodes in the trash be extended if I upgrade my plan?
Yes, upgrading your plan will extend the retention period for file nodes in the trash accordingly.
Can I recover my file nodes if they expire in the trash?
No, once file nodes expire in the trash, they cannot be recovered.
